We have very good links with both our local Primary Schools, Grove C of E School and Millbrook School
A festive visit to Friends on Friday
The School is now an academy, and part of the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust. We have four church members on the governing body of Grove C of E School, and our clergy have traditionally been closely involved with the school by going in to lead collective worship. Church members have formed an Open the Book team, along with members from Grove Free Evangelical Church, and go into school once a week to read an interactive Bible story at an assembly – see www.openthebook.net for details. The school also visit the church regularly for special services – we have a Bible service in the autumn where each Year 1 child is given a Lion First Bible from the church; we also have school services in church at Christmas, Easter and other occasions such as the Queen’s Jubilee.
Children from the school visit Friends on Friday regularly to show and talk about their schoolwork.
The Headteacher and school are very keen to build up links with the church, and enhance the Christian ethos of the school.
Our links with Millbrook have grown over the years, and our clergy have a good relationship with the staff and school.
