St Johns church and congregation are committed to being an inclusive and accessible church who welcome everyone. We are on a journey of making our church as accessible as possible and welcome feedback from anyone who uses the church buildings.

We are currently working with ‘Through the Roof’, a charity whose mission is to break down barriers faced by disabled people in Christian life. We have a ‘Roofbreaker’ at St John’s called Rachel. If you have any questions about your ability to attend St Johns due to accessibility issues, please contact her (rachel.hutchin@valebenefice.org.uk). She is very happy to answer questions or help in any way she can.

When you arrive, there are disabled parking spaces next to the front entrance. The main door has steps up to it with painted edges to ensure visibility.

There is step free access around the side of the church, to the right of the main door. The foyer, church and church hall are level access, other than a small side vestry which has one step up to it.

There are a variety of seats in both the church building and church hall which include pews and chairs both with and without arms. There is space for wheelchairs too.

There are two accessible toilets, one directly off the church foyer and another off the church hall which is a Changing Spaces toilet with a hoist and adult changing table (max weight 200kg).

There are also hearing loops in the church and hall.

The downstairs of St John’s Room has level access, but there is not a lift to the Upper Room.

During the service, churchgoers can join with the service in the main church, see it live-streamed from the hall where Sunday Club is held, or use a calmer, quieter space if needed (please ask our welcomers / sidespeople if you need directions!).
