Dear friends at St John’s
Over the past few months, the ministry team and PCC have been working on developing a renewed vision for St John’s. As part of this process, we are inviting the whole church to join with us in prayer during the ten days of Ascensiontide.
From Ascension Day (Thursday 14th May) until Pentecost (Sunday 24th May), the church celebrates that Jesus is alive and reigns in heaven, and we wait in expectation for the promised Holy Spirit. We want to use this time to listen to what God is saying to the church, and to pray for our church community and our parish.
In the booklet attached, you will find details of what we have planned: a worship evening, a day of prayer and a prayer walk. Also, we will be gathering daily online at 8pm, for 15 minutes, to pray together. A link has been emailed out by the Church Office.
On Saturday 16th May at 7pm, we will be holding our APCM, and we would like you to come, as we will be sharing our renewed church vision with the wider church family.
In the booklet, you will also find more about our renewed vision, our vision prayer collect, and about the questions we would like you to reflect on as we pray over these ten days.
We would love it if you could capture your responses and share them with us. The best way to do this is to use this by an online Google form (see Church Office email).
We hope that by offering a range of ways to get involved, as many people as possible will be praying together for St John’s over Ascensiontide. Thank you for all the love, effort and prayer you have already invested in our church and our community.
